Add the below indicated dose to a small quantity of feed for your horse to eat, or use a syringe to administer the dose directly into the horse’s mouth (as preferred). Equilixir contains NO sugar, molasses or artificial sweeteners and NO synthetic preservatives.
HOW TO START: 60ml twice daily
When introducing a horse to Equilixir for whatever reason it is best to start on 60ml twice daily for a minimum of 4 to 6 weeks. Ponies (11.3 - 14.2 hands)
may be given 40ml - 50ml twice daily as a loading dose. The initial loading dose may be maintained as long as necessary. For example if the horse needs to gain or maintain topline, is struggling with joint flexibility or is recovering from an injury, it is best to maintain the loading dose.
HOW TO MAINTAIN: 30ml twice daily
After seeing the desired improvements you may test a lower dose. To do this reduce the initial dose by up to 50% and continue giving Equilixir twice daily. This translates to 30ml twice daily for horses and 20ml twice daily for ponies. Monitor whether the improvements you have seen are sustained on the lower dose for 2 - 4 weeks. If the lower dose fails to sustain the beneficial effects your horse enjoyed increase the dose again. Horses that are healthy, sound, not under intensive training and not stressed can eventually be maintained on a dose as low as 15ml twice daily.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO SEE RESULTS?
The length of time it takes to see results depends on (1) the selected dose and (2) why you are giving Equilixir. Using any dose below the recommended doses can result a slower response and may be ineffective in some cases. Equilixir’s positive impact on competitive horses and horses struggling with joint degeneration or metabolic dysregulation can take 3 – 6 weeks to build up on the loading dose. While Equilixir can optimise recovery from injury, the time to recovery will depend on the type of injury, its severity and how consistent you are with giving Equilixir as recommended.
HOW LONG SHOULD MY HORSE CONTINUE TAKING EQUILIXIR?
Non-competitive horses using Equilixir at the lowest recommended dose to sustain good health, wellbeing and vitality may benefit from receiving Equilixir daily and indefinitely. High performance horses in training and competition should remain on 30ml to 60ml twice daily as long as they are training and competing in order to enjoy maximum benefits. Ongoing challenges, such as managing the risk and impact of joint degeneration, or tying up, or metabolic dysfunction, may require ongoing supplementation at a dose of on 30ml to 60ml twice daily. HOW MUCH EQUILIXIR WILL I NEED PER MONTH FOR MY HORSE?
We recommend that all horses start Equilixir on a loading dose of 60ml twice daily for 4 to 6 weeks. It would be best to purchase a 5L bottle of Equilixir to achieve this, since a 5L bottle should last around 6 weeks on this dose. Ponies (11.3 - 14.2 hands) may be given 40ml - 50ml twice daily as a loading dose. The initial loading dose may be continued as long as necessary. For example if the horse needs to gain or maintain topline, is struggling with joint flexibility or is recovering from an injury, it is best to maintain the loading dose.
If you decide to reduce your horse's daily dose to 30ml twice daily (down from 60ml twice daily after its first 6 week loading period) and find that it maintains well on this lower dose, then you will need one 2L bottle per month. But it will be important to explore doses between 30ml twice daily and 60ml twice daily to find the optimum dose for your horse to settle on. The recommended maintenance dose for ponies (following 6 weeks on 40ml twice daily) is 20ml twice daily, which will result in a 2L bottle of Equilixir lasting almost 2 months (50 days). But it will be best to explore doses between 20ml twice daily and 40ml twice daily to find the optimum maintenance dose for your pony to settle on.
Horses that are healthy, sound, not under intensive training and not stressed can eventually be maintained on a dose as low as 15ml twice daily. A 2L bottle of Equilixir will last more than 2 months for one horse or 1 month for 2 horses on this dose.
CAN I PERSONALISE MY HORSE'S DOSE?
The loading dose of 60ml twice daily represents the dose at which you can expect the best and most consistent results. As explained above, it is acceptable working carefully and mindfully with your horse to determine the lowest, effective dose. This should be a dose that sustains the desired effects and benefits and will be somewhere between 60ml twice daily and 15ml twice daily for horses, and between 40ml twice daily and 15ml twice daily for ponies. Please bear in mind that doses lower than those recommended can take longer to produce the desired results and may be ineffective in some cases. It is therefore important to monitor your horse’s response to lower doses and to adjust the dose accordingly when personalising its daily dose. Doses below 15ml twice daily will have limited effects and are therefore discouraged. It is also important to initiate your horse on the above mentioned loading dose of 60ml twice daily for at least the first 4 to 6 weeks.
SHETLAND PONIES AND MINIATURE HORSE

When introducing a Shetland pony or miniature horse to Equilixir for whatever reason it is best to start on the below loading dose for a minimum of 4 to 6 weeks. This initial loading dose may be maintained as long as necessary. For example while the horse is recovering from an injury, if it struggles with joint flexibility or if it needs to gain or maintain topline the loading dose should be maintained.
Shetland ponies (9.3 - 11.2 hands): 20ml twice daily (total daily dose: 40ml)
Miniature horses (8.2 - 9.2 hands): 15ml twice daily (total daily dose: 30ml)

For an animal that requires 40ml per day, a 2L bottle of Equilixir will last almost 2 months (50 days). For an animal that requires 30ml per day, a 2L bottle of Equilixir will last more than 2 months (66 days). For an animal that requires 20ml per day, a 2L bottle of Equilixir will last more than 3 months (100 days). For an animal that requires 15ml per day, a 2L bottle of Equilixir will last nearly 4.5 months (133 days).
