HOW MUCH EQUILIXIR WILL I NEED PER MONTH FOR MY HORSE?
We recommend that all horses start Equilixir on a loading dose of 60ml twice daily for 4 to 6 weeks. It would be best to purchase a 5L bottle of Equilixir to achieve this, since a 5L bottle should last around 6 weeks on this dose. Ponies (11.3 - 14.2 hands) may be given 40ml - 50ml twice daily as a loading dose. The initial loading dose may be continued as long as necessary. For example if the horse needs to gain or maintain topline, is struggling with joint flexibility or is recovering from an injury, it is best to maintain the loading dose.
If you decide to reduce your horse's daily dose to 30ml twice daily (down from 60ml twice daily after its first 6 week loading period) and find that it maintains well on this lower dose, then you will need one 2L bottle per month. But it will be important to explore doses between 30ml twice daily and 60ml twice daily to find the optimum dose for your horse to settle on. The recommended maintenance dose for ponies (following 6 weeks on 40ml twice daily) is 20ml twice daily, which will result in a 2L bottle of Equilixir lasting almost 2 months (50 days). But it will be best to explore doses between 20ml twice daily and 40ml twice daily to find the optimum maintenance dose for your pony to settle on.
Horses that are healthy, sound, not under intensive training and not stressed can eventually be maintained on a dose as low as 15ml twice daily. A 2L bottle of Equilixir will last more than 2 months for one horse or 1 month for 2 horses on this dose.
WHAT MAKES EQUILIXIR DIFFERENT FROM OTHER OIL SUPPLEMENTS?
Equilixir is more than a simple oil supplement and this will become abundantly clear within the first month of supplementation. In general oil supplements can assist with reducing your horse’s intake of non-fermentable carbohydrates, which can help prevent and manage the risk of problems like insulin resistance, laminitis, ulcers, colic, and atypical or fizzy behaviour. The fatty acids present in oil can optimise muscle fuel efficiency. However, there are additional factors that elevate Equilixir as a premium tonic, namely:
(1) Equilixir is enriched with a unique blend of botanical flavour essences that have been carefully selected for their sensory properties and auxiliary benefits.
(2) Equilixir contains naturally occurring, health-promoting plant chemicals that are found exclusively in organic, unrefined, cold-pressed sesame oil. Click here to learn more about how sesame seed oil, referred to as the Queen Of Oils, has been used in both humans and horses for thousands of years as part of the ancient healing system called Ayurveda.
CAN YOU USE EQUILIXIR TO REPLACE OTHER OILS SUPPLEMENTS?
Equilixir can replace supplementation with other oils, especially when the horse is being maintained on the loading dose of 60ml twice daily for horses or 40ml twice daily for ponies. If your horse requires volumes of oil above Equilixir’s upper dose for some reason we recommend you top up with an oil that is at least cold pressed and unrefined.
HOW DOES EQUILIXIR WORK?
Equilixir's action is centered on supporting your horse's physiological processes that ensure good musculoskeletal health and performance, as well as overall body condition. As such Equilixir assists your horse with balancing its own built-in regulatory mechanisms. For example, the correct use of Equilixir can support your horse’s own, built-in regulation of inflammation, which can contribute to reducing the need for anti-inflammatory drugs and injections. This in turn can reduce your horse’s exposure to treatments that can restrict its freedom to compete or negatively affect its overall health and performance because of their side effect profiles. Equilixir also supports your horse's energy metabolism to ensure that it can fuel its muscles optimally to meet the challenges of sport and other hard work, while maintaining good body condition.
HOW SAFE IS EQUILIXIR?
Equilixir has been formulated specifically for horses, taking into consideration their unique digestive systems and physiology. Equilixir is safe when used within the recommended dose range, including the upper dose and even when used long-term. Accidental overdosing up to double the recommended upper dose will cause no harm. Equilixir contains NO sugar, molasses or artificial sweeteners. This makes Equilixir safe for obese horses, horses that struggle with regulating insulin and horses prone to colic, ulcers, laminitis, tying-up and hyperactivity. In fact, Equilixir can assist these horses to establish better metabolic regulation and to rebalance their body composition. Fat malabsorption syndromes are extremely rare in horses. Nevertheless, it should be noted that horses diagnosed with this problem should only be fed additional fats under the supervision of a veterinarian. Safety is of the utmost importance to us and we welcome feedback regarding Equilixir. We urge all customers to report to us any effects they are concerned about so that we and the equine vets we work with may investigate them to continue ensuring that Equilixir users only benefit from this premium equine tonic.
